Evaluation
Many different things were prepared to help create the final continuity film task. Some of these things were, a shot plan and a storyboard. I found creating the shot plan a little difficult at first but after a while I understood that many cameras had to be drawn to show the positions instead of using arrows. When I made the storyboard I found it easy to take pictures of where I was going to shoot and explain what will happen there.
Due to this being the first script I made I found it very challenging when remembering to put EXT or INT, and also I didn't know you had to put 'cut to...' after every shot. Learning how to write a script helped me when it came to writing my script for my Yurei horror opening.
When it came to make the continuity film, we rehearsed the shots and explained to our actors what they had to say and do. One important thing we had to remember was the 180 degree rule. This is when the camera must stay one side of the actors to ensure the conversation makes sense. My group found this challenging at first but once we had sat down and spoke about where the camera should be put it was fine. We did a test shoot so we knew what we were doing. We filmed the task twice so when it came to editing if we made a mistake there was another shot we could use.
One mistake I made was filming the whole thing in portrait. Films are only shot in landscape. This is a big mistake that I have learnt from doing this task. When it comes to shooting my final film I will remember to keep the camera landscape.
This task has really helped me to learn how to shoot various camera angles and positions, and how to create a shot plan and write a script.
